GOSH Velvet Touch Lipliners

The first time I heard about the GOSH Velvet Touch Lipliners was on llymlrs at the end of last year/start of this year and I've slowly been building up a collection of them ever since then. So, I thought it was about time I did a review saying as I've featured them in a few of my previous blog posts, such as my Birthday Make-Up, Interview Make-Up and May Favourites.

First of all, they are named really appropriately, as they do actually glide onto the lips like velvet. I don't have to drag them around my lips to get any product payoff as they're just so pigmented, especially the brighter shades as you can see from the swatches above. Plus, they're so comfortable to wear, I don't even feel them on my lips the way I would with some other lipliners.

The shades I have (from left to right) are called Angel Kiss, Nougat Crisp, Antique Rose, Simply Red and Raspberry Dream.
The first shade I purchased was Nougat Crisp (the second swatch) and you can see how much I've used it compared to the rest. I would describe this shade as being a true nude, which is actually a perfect dupe for MAC - Velvet Teddy.
A while later, I then bought Antique Rose (the third swatch) which is exactly the same shade as my natural lips, so I think I'll get the most out of this shade in the future. I would still describe it as a nude shade, just more pink toned.
I then bought Simply Red (the fourth swatch), a true blue-based red (which helps teeth appear more white) and Raspberry Dream (the fifth swatch), a dark berry toned red which is perfect for this time of year.
I then bought Angel Kiss (the first swatch), but unfortunately I don't use this one that much because it's a peachy tone nude and it looks too light against my already pale skin, which makes me look quite washed out.

Along with great pigmentation and comfort comes great staying power. I can wear these lipliners all day and all night and they don't budge, even through an extremely messy night out they simply do not budge. I even had to use two cotton pads on micellar water to take them off!

If I was to rank them in order of my favourites (one being my favourite and five being my least favourite), I would day it would be Antique Rose, Nougat Crisp, Simply Red, Raspberry Dream and Angel Kiss. There's a few other shades that I still haven't picked up because they haven't been in stock in my local Superdrug, but there's no doubt that I'll be picking them up whenever I see them.

I would seriously recommend checking out these lipliners if you're a lip product addict or have trouble finding a lipliner that stays put. Plus, at only £4.49, they're as cheap as chips.

Birthday Make-Up

One of my favourite things to do on the run-up to my birthday is preparing everything. Finding the perfect dress, shoes, bag etc. and also planning my make-up down to the finest detail. It doesn't stray too far from my usual look, but this year I really wanted to use my MAC - Please Me Lipstick, so I based my make-up around this, so think rose gold eyes and pink cheeks with an iridescent highlight.

FACE

To get things started, I prime my skin using the L'Oreal Infallible Matte Primer all over my face to keep things locked in place. I then use the Seventeen Skin Wow! 3 Way Highlighter all over my face to give a luminous, light from within look that will shine through my foundation and stop it looking too flat. I'll then go in to cover any blemishes and redness using the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - Fair and use the L'Oreal Lumi Magique Highlighter Pen - Light in a V shape under my eyes to conceal any dark circles. It's absolutely no surprise what foundation I'll be using as it's my beloved L'Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation - Porcelain as I can count on it for coverage and longevity, while not looking heavy. I'll then take my Urban Decay Flushed Palette - Streak and use the blusher and bronzer, ensuring that I use the bronzer in a 3 shape motion. I'll also use the bronzer to create a very subtle contour just under my cheekbones. I'll then use my theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer Luminizer to highlight my cheekbones and ever so slightly down my nose. To blend everything in and keep it in place, I'll use the Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder - Vanille as it's non-cakey and keeps shine at bay.

EYES

To make sure my eye make-up stays put, I'll start by using the Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow - Bikini Tini as a primer because it doesn't budge and as a neutral base because I'll be using shades from the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette. The shades I'm going to use are Nooner all over the lid, Trick in the middle and Mugshot in the outer corners. I'm then going to use the theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer Luminizer again and use it as an inner corner highlight and brow bone highlight. I'm then going to use the Rimmel Soft Kohl Eyeliner - Jet Black to line and define my upper and lower lash lines. I'll then curl my eyelashes and put on two coats of Benefit They're Real! Mascara, letting my lashes dry between each coat for extra staying power. I'll then use the Collection Fast Stroke Eyeliner to create my signature winged eyeliner look. For brows, I'll use the Soap & Glory Archery 2-In-1 Brow Pencil & Brush - Blondeshell because it gives a natural, yet defined look.

LIPS

To finish off my make-up, I'll lightly line my lips using the GOSH Velvet Touch Lipliner - Antique Rose as it's the perfect match for my natural lip colour. I'll then apply my favourite lipstick, MAC Lipstick - Please Me as it's matte, yet creamy and not drying.

Barry M Limited Edition Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint

If you know me, then you'll know that I'm obsessed with nail polish. Some people collect stamps, coins or seashells, but I collect nail polish (and lipstick). I can safely say that Barry M is my favourite brand for nail polish in the drugstore and it makes up about 60% of my entire nail polish collection, I just can't help but buy all the new releases!

Anyway, Barry M released two limited edition shades of the Gelly Hi Shine nail paints but with a twist, they have glitter in them and oh my, but they are stunning.

The first shade and my favourite out of the two is Sparkling Ruby, a gorgeous burgundy shade with gold and silver glitter running through it. The second shade is Sparkling Amethyst, an equally as gorgeous plum shade with silver, purple and even a slight bit of blue glitter running through it.

I've you've tried the original Gelly Hi Shine formulation, then these are exactly the same. Glossy, opaque and easy to apply, yet also easy to remove which is surprising because of the glitter in them. I apply a base coat, two coats (although you could get away with one) and a top coat and they only show signs of chipping around the 10 day mark.

I've fallen completely head over heels in love with these nail polishes, they are such a beautiful addition to my nail polish collection and perfect for Autumn/Winter and dare I say it, the party season is fast approaching.

Autumn Make-Up

I don't exactly know what it is, but Autumn is definitely my favourite time of year. I love the fact that during October I get to celebrate three special birthday's, my Dad's, my oldest brother's and my own, which will be even more special this year as it's my 21st. Not to mention the run-up to Halloween, there's just something so magical about it. So, as it gets darker, so does my make-up. I just love a dark, berry/wine lip and a copper/gold, glittery eye with a flick of liquid eyeliner to bring together my signature look.

FACE

To start things off, I prime my skin using the Seventeen Skin Wow! 3 Way Highlighter as it gives a gorgeous lit from within look, yet it isn't too glittery or shimmery. Sometimes if I don't have a lot of time, I mix this straight in with my foundation and it works just as well. Next up is concealing, so I use the Seventeen Phwoarr Paint Concealer - Fair for my face to cover any blemishes or redness and the Seventeen Stay Time Concealer - Extra Fair under my eyes to combat my dark circles. I'm sure you'll all have guessed by now that I was going to use the L'Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation - Porcelain, I just can't get enough of this, it's matte yet it still gives some luminosity which helps not to make the skin look too flat, I've nearly finished the tube! To add some colour to my ghostly complexion, I've been loving the Laura Geller Blush N' Brighten - Pink Grapefruit as it's a dark raspberry pink, so it's perfect for Autumn. Now, if you know me, then you'll know that I hate the heavy contoured look as it just doesn'y suit me at all. However, I've been experimenting with a very light contour recently and I find that the Seventeen Define & Conquer Contour Kit - Medium* does a wonderful job. Plus, the highlighter has no shimmer in it which makes it perfect for through the day. To keep everything locked in place, I use the Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder - Vanille as it's lightweight and non-cakey.

EYES

The eyes are my favourite part of my make-up to do and I want the look to last, so I start by priming my eyes with the Nicka K Eyeshadow Base - Pearl* as it's brilliant at keeping eyeshadow locked in place all day and emphasising the colours. Next, I went for copper/gold glitter eyeshadow look by blending Seventeen Eye Eye Shadow - Rose Quartz & Statuesque* as they are both beautiful shades and they are a perfect match for the look I want to create. I then line my upper lashes with the Rimmel Soft Kohl Eyeliner - Sable Brown as the brown creates a soft, warm look whereas black would be too harsh. I then curl my lashes and give them a few coats of mascara using the Benefit They're Real! Mascara as it's perfect for volume, separation and length. To finish off my eye make-up, I do my signature winged liner using the Collection Fast Stroke Eyeliner as it stays in place all day and it's so easy to use. I'm not a fan of an overdone, heavy brow as it doesn't suit my face, however I've been loving the Collection Work The Colour Eyebrow Kit as it contains three shades, a brush and clear mascara. I use a mix of the lightest shade and the middle shade and fill my brows in very lightly using an angled brow brush, then brush them through with the clear mascara. I sometimes use this kit for eyeshadows as well!

LIPS

To finish things off, I use the Seventeen Stay Pout Lipstick - Rule Breaker, a gorgeous burgundy/wine shade similar to the famous Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick - 107. I have a few shades of the Stay Pout Lipsticks now and I always go back to them as I love the creamy matte, long-lasting formula.

Too Faced Color Bomb! Moisture Plumping Lip Tint

First things first, can we appreciate how stunning, yet simple the packaging is? Aside from the pretty gold packaging, these two lip balms have really grown on me. At first, I will admit, I wasn't the biggest fan. This was mainly down to the tingling sensation that came after they were applied. However, don't be alarmed, I misjudged it and it's nothing more than just a slight tingle for about a five minutes, it just caught me off guard.

The tingling sensation is down to 'plumping and blood vessel dilating technology' that are within these lip balms, which creates the illusion of fuller, luscious lips.

Aside, from the tingling sensation, they are actually surprisingly moisturising. This is because the lip balms contain a mix of vitamin A, C and E along with nourishing mango butter, for the ultimate creamy and comfortable lip balm.

The colour pay-off is pretty decent actually, as you can see from the swatches above how pigmented they are, so you could apply them very sheer or build them up for a more intense colour. Whenever they stop tingling and dry a little bit, they give a typical balm stain, almost satin finish to the lips.

Eastwood Red is a lovely true cherry red shade and Never Enough Nude is a gorgeous pinky nude shade. Both shades are perfect all year around, although I've been reaching for Never Enough Nude more often as it's a perfect every day shade.

They applicator is something I've never seen before, a rounded bullet tip than can be applied straight onto the lips, which makes for easier application.

Even though I do like these lip balms, I'm not crazy about them and I do think there's much better and less expensive alternatives out there, considering they retail for £19. I'm just lucky I got mine in TK Maxx for £5 each!

I've heard that the Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Pillow Plump XXL Glosses give a similar sort of tingling and plumping effect if it's that you're looking for. However, since I wasn't overly keen on the tingling effect, something like the Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balms give an incredible colour pay-off, yet are actually moisturising and comfortable to wear on the lips from the second you apply them.

Overall, I think I like these lip balms, as the only thing that really bothers me about them is the tingling effect, which I guess I can overlook if it only lasts a few minutes. They do make my lips look a lot fuller though, without the 'I've been stung by a bee or got had a course of botox' look, I like the shades and they are pretty moisturising, but I wouldn't pay full price for them.

Spending Ban | Saving Money

So, after buying myself a new coat, a pair of boots and some non-essential beauty bits and pieces, I realised that I don't really need to buy anything else. So, I've challenged myself to do spending ban until 2016 and make proper use out of my savings account. *gasps*

I think I'm underestimating how extremely difficult this will be for me, saying as I can't walk into Boots without leaving with a new nail polish or lipstick. So, I'm also going to make two milestones, my birthday (27th October) and Christmas, where I can buy myself a little treat whilst still trying to remain under £35. It is my 21st after all!

I know that my biggest weaknesses are sales, offers (3 for 2, 2 for £10 etc.), boosted discounts on UNiDAYS, discount codes and vouchers, so I'm going to try my best to avoid these as much as possible.

However, apart from the obvious essentials (shower gel, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner etc.), I will allow myself to buy the following items whenever they run out, since I use them on a daily basis and I will always purchase them again and again.

Skin

Make-Up

Body

21st Birthday Wish List

At the start of every October I get the same question, "What do you want for your birthday?" and I can never think of what I actually want. My birthday isn't actually until the 27th, so I still have quite a while to think about what things I actually want from my wish list. Although, I think I'm going to go for the Zoeva Rose Golden Brush Set and the Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette. I'm definitely going to buy a few things for myself though to break my spending ban!

Zoeva Rose Golden Brush Set
Pandora Rose Bow Ring
Barry M Sunset Daylight Curing Nail Polishes - Do You Pink I'm Sexy?, Dark Side Of The Shroom', Vegeance Is Wine, Plum On Baby Light My Fire
Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette
Caroline Herrera 212 VIP Eau De Parfum
MAC Lipstick - Velvet Teddy
Marble Phone Case
Pandora 21st Birthday Charm
Topshop Dip-Dye Ribbed Knit Jumper
Zoeva Rose Golden Palette
ASOS Western Pointed Chelsea Ankle Boots
Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick - Rosa
Paper Towns
Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette

However, one thing I know for sure that I want is an Olivia Burton watch. I just love how pretty and delicate they are, as big watches don't suite my baby-sized wrists. I love how timeless and elegant the Olivia Burton watches are, I love the idea of being able to keep one forever and remembering that I got it for my 21st birthday. I've narrowed it down to these three, but I just can't choose between them, so any suggestions will be very welcome!
