Nails Of The Week | Manicure Monday

If you read my latest Boots Haul blog post, you will likely have noticed two nail polishes that I picked up. Sugar Plum is the only Gelly release this Summer and even though it does look lovely own its own, I thought Atlantis would add a lovely touch because I haven't put any glitter on my nails for ages because it's so hard to take off and causes so much damage to my nails, hence why I only put the glitter on my ring finger.

On my nails:

Barry M Gelly - Sugar Plum
Barry M Aquarium - Atlantis

Boots Haul

If you're a regular around these parts, you'll know the drill by now. You pop into Boots for one thing, end up spending half an hour browsing and come out with a bag of new make-up goodness. It doesn't even seem that long since my last Boots Haul.

I guess we'll start with the item I went in for, the Seventeen Phwoarr Paint Concealer (Fair). After discovering this concealer around a year ago via gh0stparties, I was instantly hooked and have came back to buy it again and again. Especially since it's one of the only concealers light enough for my skin colour. It's designed for use around the eyes to disguise dark circles, although it's creamy, yet high coverage formula is also fantastic for covering any blemishes or redness.

Since Seventeen was doing a 'Buy One, Get One Half Price' offer at the time, I thought I'd give the Skin Wow! 3 Way Highlighter a go since I've seen it circulating around a few blogs and videos now. It's designed to use a primer, to mix with your foundation or as a liquid highlighter. So far, I've been using it as a primer and I've been quite impressed with the glowy results.

Who can resist going into Boots and not having a look at the Barry M stand!? I picked up the shade 'Sugar Plum' from the Gelly Hi Shine range, which as you can guess is a lovely sugar plum/pink/purple shade. It was actually quite hard to get a hold of in my local Boots as it's only shade they've added to the Gelly range since it's been all about the Speedy Quick Dry range, which I also love. I also picked up the shade 'Atlantis', a gorgeous glittery top coat with flecks of pink, purple, gold and blue. I think the two will look lovely together!

I also added to my ever-growing Real Techniques collection and bought the Powder Brush. For ages I've been using the Duo-Fiber Face Brush from the Nic's Picks collection to apply my powder, but I just fancied using something different now that Summer's here. I can't believe I didn't buy this sooner, I don't think I'll ever have too many Real Techniques brushes!

It's not very often that they stock any higher end make-up in my local Boots, but when they do, it's in the form of mini's. After reading tonnes of mixed reviews about the Benefit - They're Real! Push-Up Liner, I was unsure whether to get it or not. So, I thought I would pick up a mini and give it a go anyway. I'm still unsure how I feel about it, but I'll let you know in the future.

What do you think of my Boots haul? Have you tried any of these products? Let me know in the comments!

Escentual Haul

One thing that I'm forever thankful to the blogging world for is introducing me to French skincare. French brands such as La Roche-Posay, Bioderma, Vichy, Nuxe and many, many more have been some of the only brands that products work for me. So, whenever Escentual host their French Pharmacy sale, I see it as the perfect time to stock up on some essentials and try some new products as well. The sale runs the entire month of June and I can definitely see myself placing another order before the end of the month!

A product I was interested in trying out was the Vichy Normaderm 3 In 1 Cleanser + Scrub + Mask as I'd seen it a few times in Boots and thought it sounded good. I don't think I'll get much use out of it as a cleanser and scrub on a daily basis as it might be a bit too abrasive and harsh on my sensitive skin, but I can't wait to try as a mask.

I had just finished my pot of Nuxe Rêve de Miel Honey Lip Balm at the end of May, so I was just in time to get a new pot from the sale. I remember buying this last year and I've used it every night since I got it, so one tiny pot had lasted me the whole year with daily use. This is definitely one product I can't be without and I will purchase it again and again.

Lurking in the New In section, I saw the Vichy Normaderm BB Clear - Unifying Corrective Cream (Light) and thought I'd give it a go even though I hadn't heard a lot about it. I love lighter bases for Summer, so I thought this would be perfect for daily use or if I was having a no make-up day but still wanted a bit of coverage as it contains skin-loving ingredients as well.

I couldn't wait to try out the Vichy Normaderm Night Detox as I'd heard nothing but great reviews about it. I can't wait to incorporate this into my night time skincare routine and see the results because it claims to tighten pores, even skin texture, reduce imperfections and enhance radiance.

What do you think of my Escentual haul? Would you buy anything from it? Let me know in the comments!

Nails Of The Week | Manicure Monday

It seems as if the weather has taken a turn for the worse here in Northern Ireland. It's been so dull and cloudy all day, so I thought I'd go for a bright nail polish to help brighten up the week ahead. I don't exactly know what shade you would call this nail polish, it's a bit like a pink/red/coral hybrid, either way, I love it!

On my nails:

Maybelline Super Stay 7 Days - Hot Salsa

Probably one of the weirdest, yet most well known type of blog posts are empties, yet I've never done one before. So, much to my family's confusion, I started to gather a few empty products in a bag in my bedroom over the past couple of months. Because there's nothing like showing the world your rubbish people!

Body Products

My favourite range from Soap & Glory and one that I will buy products from over and over again is the the Sugar Crush range. It's the perfect citrus scent to help you get up and go in the morning.

I thought I'd give the Orangeasm body wash a go since I love citrus scents and I wanted to try something different. Although it smells lovely, I think I'll stick to the Sugar Crush range just because it's my favourite.

I've went through a few of these now and have tried similar ones from different brands, yet I always seem to come back to this one. I'm quite lazy when it comes to body moisturising, however this makes life so much easier!

Hair Products

Hair masks are something I'm not that loyal with, I just haven't found to perfect one. Although I did like this one and I did notice that my hair was healthier, I just want to try some different hair masks as well.

When Spring and Summer starts to roll around again, I always reach for a bottle of this and have done for the past few years. It's a brilliant product that brings out the natural highlights in my hair without having to reach for a bottle of hair dye, I love it!

Another product that I will always repurchase is this spray, I've went through countless bottles of this and I just do not know what I did before it came into my life.

A product that I only discovered this year, yet I can see myself purchasing again is this hairspray. It smells divine and keeps my hair in place all day. It even made in into my March Favourites.

I used to absolutely hate dry shampoo, that was until I found the right one. I still only use it for weekends away as I like to wash my hair every day (I know I shouldn't), but at least I've found one that I like.

Skin Products

I remember buying this as a teenager and I still buy it to this day. It's perfect for all over the body, but I live using it when my skin feels dry and needs an instant moisture boost.

This seemed to be everywhere a few months ago and rightly so. A great budget micellar water that I would buy again, it removes every trace of eye make-up without irritating my eyes and removes a good amount of face make-up in preparation for a proper cleanse.

This has bound to be in everyone's empties at least once, who doesn't love it? I actually had 3 in it when I was sorting out the empties bag, ooops.

My holy grail cleanser, I actually prefer it over Liz Earle cleanse and polish, which I also love, but there's just something about this cleanser that agrees with my skin. Although, don't get it in your eyes.

Another LRP favourite, Serozinc has had quite the following ever since it became more widely available. Yet another product I'd be lost without.

This is actually the mini size pack that I got in the First Aid Beauty FAB Favs To Go Kit. I couldn't believe how much of difference these made to my skin. They gently exfoliated my skin and left it looking more radiant and resurfaced in the morning. I'll definitely pick up the larger tub in the future.

Another beauty blogger favourite that I'll repurchase again and again is this lip balm. In fact, one tub lasted me the entire year with daily use.

Make-Up Products

Remember the days when we used to remove our nail polish with cotton wool pads and a bottle of nail polish remover? I'm never going back to those messy times, which is why I buy these all the time.

This used to be my go to powder for every day use before I started using my Bourjois Healthy Balance powder. Don't get me wrong, it's a brilliant powder, I just prefer to use it in the Autumn and Winter.

I used to think that the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer was the only one for me, then I discovered this little pot of genius. If you need a high coverage foundation that isn't cakey, I really recommend checking this one out, I've already bought my second pot.

Have you used up any products recently? Let me know in the comments!

Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm

As the warmer weather is creeping in more and more, I step away from the heavy make-up. Heavy foundation? None. Smokey eyes? Nope. For me this also includes heavy lipsticks and lip glosses. Seriously, who wants wasps flying near their lips!? Instead, I start reaching for the lip balms as I still want my lips to be nourished and protected from the heat.

This is when the Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm comes into play, as they treat the lips while giving them a lovely wash of colour. They contain shea butter, which helps to nourishes the skin and vitamin E, which helps to protect the skin.

The shades that I bought were 'Pixi Pink', a true candy pink and 'Ripe Raspberry', a darker pink, almost red shade that I get the most wear out of. Both shades provide a lovely wash of sheer colour, but they can be built up and layered to a stronger colour if you wish.

I really love the consistency of the Pixi lip balms as they're comfortable to wear, not sticky and feel completely weightless. They stick around for quite a while on the lips as well, but when they do start to fade, they don't fade awkwardly due to the moisturising effect of the shea butter.

I wore them all Summer long last year and it's safe to say I'll be doing the same this year again as well. There's also a few more shades *cough* Coral Crush *cough* that I can definitely see myself picking up sometime soon.

At £8, they are more expensive than a pot of Vaseline, but they're still not going to cost the earth. Plus, they're perfect for handbags as well!

Nails Of The Week | Manicure Monday

When rummaging through my stash of nail polish last weekend, I came across a few nail polishes that I hadn't used and to be honest, I had forgotten all about them! Lilac is not a colour I'm usually drawn to as it makes me look even more pale than I already am. However, for some reason, this shade really drew me in because of the teeny tiny shimmer particles running through it.

25 Of My Favourite Feelings

Recently, I watched a video by one of my favourite bloggers and Youtubers, Essie Button. The video was called "15 Of My Favourite Feelings" and at first I thought it was going to be about emotional feelings, e.g. happy, excited, etc., but when I started watching it, Estée talked about all her favourite positive feelings in life, such as helping someone, giving some a compliment etc.

It really got me thinking how busy we are thinking about all the negatives in life, that we hardly take time to be thankful for the little every day things. The quote "Enjoy the little things because it's the little things that make life big." immediately came to mind. So, it got me thinking of some of my own favourite feelings that I think most people will be able to relate to.

P.S. I was only supposed to write 15, but I got carried away!

1. When I have enough Boots points to buy myself a treat.
2. Having fresh bed sheets and new pyjama's.
3. When someone says "You've made my day!".
4. The warm welcome I receive from dog when I get home.
5. Using a new piece of make-up for the first time.
6. Seeing my Mum, Dad and brothers happy.
7. When I see my food coming in a restaurant.
8. Writing for the first time in a new notebook.
9. Freshly washed make-up brushes.
10. When I've tidied and decorated my room the way I like it.
11. Having a warm bubble bath when I'm feeling sick.
12. Seeing my best friend after not seeing her for a while.
13. Doing a good deed for the day.
14. Receiving lovely comments on my blog.
15. Having a sense of calm when I'm near the beach.
16. Finishing a piece of work and being proud of it.
17. When someone compliments something I don't like about myself.
18. A perfect cup of tea after a long day.
19. Getting my eyeliner flick right in one go.
20. Having a good skin day.
21. Wearing an outfit that makes me feel more confident.
22. Knowing I've drunk enough water for the day.
23. Finishing a book that I've been reading for ages.
24. When I'm comfortable enough with someone that I can say anything.
25. Accomplishing something new that I've been trying to do for ages.

Can you relate to any of my favourite feelings? Let me know in the comments!

Spring To Summer Make-Up

Saying as June usually marks the start of Summer, but it's not quite warm enough to break out the sun cream just yet, I thought I would share my Spring to Summer transitional make-up. Bring on the dewy skin and bright lips!

For my base, I like to keep it light and breathable, yet with enough coverage for any blemishes and dark circles that are going on. After my skincare routine, I'll start with the Max Factor Facefinity All Day Primer to help smooth out my complexion and prolong the wear of my make-up. For concealer, I went back to an old favourite of mine, the Seventeen Phwoarr Paint (Fair). This concealer is one of my favourite concealers out there and better than some more expensive ones I've tried. It's designed for under the eyes, but I also use it for covering blemishes and redness. During Spring and Summer, I try to stay away from heavy foundations as much as possible, so I reach for my Bourjois 123 Perfect Colour CC Cream (Ivory). For a CC cream, it has a surprisingly high coverage, yet feels weightless on the skin. I like to use my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge as it gives a flawless, even coverage. For cheeks, I've been loving using cream blushers as they give a much fresher look to my skin. At the minute I've been obsessed with using Topshop Blush in Head Over Heels, a gorgeous bright coral shade which instantly brings live to my paler than pale complexion. I'll also go in with a little bit of The Body Shop - Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder (01) as it's the only bronzer I've used that gives me a little colour without looking too muddy. To make sure everything stays in place, I use the Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder (Vanille) as it helps to lock my make-up in and keep oiliness at bay, which is essential for when it gets warmer.

Eyes & Lips

For eyes and lips, I like to keep things focused on my eyes and be fairly simple with my lips. During Spring and Summer, I don't go overboard with glitter eyeshadows and too many colours because they disappear throughout the day more quickly. I find that cream eyeshadows are the best option, so something like the Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in Creamy Beige is perfect as it adds a subtle amount of colour. For eyeliner, I like to use the Rimmel ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Liner in Nude around my waterline to make my eyes pop and correct any redness. For liquid eyeliner, I use the Bourjois Liner Pinceau Eyeliner (Ultra Black) to create my signature flick that I rarely leave the house without. For my eyelashes, I like to keep them fluttery and clump free, so a coat or two of Benefit Roller Lash Mascara is absolutely ideal. For eyebrows, I don't suit the overdrawn, dark brows as they over-power my face, so I use Soap & Glory Archery Brow Tint & Pencil (Love Is Blonde) to fill in the front of my brows, brush them through and I'm done, no caterpillar brows for me. For lips, I've been loving the Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Rose, a beautiful true pink rose shade. They have the texture and feel of a lip balm, yet have the colour payoff of a lipstick, I need more shades!

Nails Of The Week | Manicure Monday

If you read my Topshop Beauty Haul & Review blog post, you will have heard me mention this nail polish, so I thought I'd do a proper swatch and let you see what it's really like on the nails. I'm absolutely obsessed with Topshop make-up at the minute, they really are bringing it and stepping up their game more and more. I can't wait to see what they have in store for Summer!
