Missguided & Miss Selfridge Haul

Tiffany Premium Blazer - Powder Blue
£12

Through the entire Autumn and Winter months, I was searching for the perfect baby blue coat, which unfortunately I never got. I thought it was a bit pointless to still be searching for coats near the end of May, so whenever I saw this blue blazer, I thought it was the perfect option. I can wear this now, during Spring and Summer and continue my search for the perfect baby blue coat whenever the colder weather starts to creep in again.
Gingham Smock Playsuit
£15

I saw this little gingham playsuit whenever I was browsing through Missguided and thought I would get it because I love the style and shape of these type of playsuits as it looks more like a dress when it's on. It was also reduced which is an added bargain!
White Embellished Stripe Tee
£25

I'd been eyeing up this top for eternity, then whenever I went on to buy it, it was in the sale! I find that Miss Selfridge tops always sit so perfectly, so I had snap this up before it was sold out. I love that it has little embellishments on it, which means it's so easy to dress up or down and take it from day to night.
Angel Sleeve Print Blouse
£28

Another top I'd be eyeing up was this pretty, fluttery, angel sleeve shirt. I don't know why, because it's very different from my usual style because it's very floral, but I just love it. It's perfect for Spring and Summer paired with a pair of white jeans and little pumps.

What do you think of my Missguided and Miss Selfridge haul? Would you buy anything from it? Let me know in the comments!

ASOS & Jack Wills Haul

Jack Wills Saltwell Hoodie - Navy
£49.50

I don't often wear hoodies, but whenever I do, it's likely that it will be a Jack Wills hoodie. They are such good quality and perfect all year round. I usually get one around this time of the year, just for something to throw on whenever it gets a bit cold, but I don't want to be carrying around a heavy coat all day.

Jack Wills Pouch In Spot Print
£7.50

I couldn't resist this cute little polka dot pouch, especially since it was on sale. I don't like carrying around my entire make-up bag in my handbag (due to one of mine being stolen whenever I was in school), so this just holds the bits and pieces that I would actually use throughout the day, such a lip balm, lipstick, powder, powder brush, hand sanitiser, hair grips, etc.

ASOS Petite Black Skinny Jeans With Knee Rip
£21

I'd been looking everywhere for a pair of black ripped skinny jeans, so whenever I saw these ASOS petite ones on sale, I snapped them up straight away. They fit perfectly, although I don't like the way it only has one rip at the knee, so I might do some DIY on the other one.

ASOS Cropped T-Shirt In Stripe And Pansy Print
£8

This little t-shirt was sitting in my saved items for ages, then whenever I went on to buy the rest of my items from ASOS, I saw that this was on sale as well and I was so pleased. I also thought that the pansies, which is actually one of my favourite flowers, would be a nice twist on my stripes obsession.

New Look Lively Slippers Shoes
£11

If there's one thing that ASOS do right, it's petite sizes and size 2 shoes. These are actually from New Look, but stocked on ASOS and even better, they were in the sale as well! I love this type of shoe, I have them in so many different styles and I wear them all year round with jeans, tights, dress, playsuits, etc. whenever I want to venture out of a pair of my ankle boots.

What do you think of my ASOS and Jack Wills haul? Would you buy anything from it? Let me know in the comments!

She Who Is Short - 1st Blog Birthday

I can't believe it, today my little blog 'She Who Is Short' is one year old, which means I've sort of been blogging for a year!

Personally, I've came a long way in the space of a year. This time last year, I wasn't very happy with how my life was going and was surrounded with a lot of negativity, which is the main reason why I started my blog. So, for me it's very satisfying to look back at my life then and compare it to the present day.

I'm extremely happy with the way my life is right now. I'm still a student and I still haven't passed my driving test, but it doesn't matter to me because I'm bubbling with positivity and I feel so much more confident in myself and what I'm doing. I now feel more assertive and love embracing what I want to do in life without anyone putting me down or telling me what to do, or not to do.

To be quite honest, by not giving a shit what someone thinks of me, I've actually learnt more in a year and honed my skills compared to what I would have learnt over the space of three years. For example, HTML & CSS, JavaScript, PHP, creative writing, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom, photography, calligraphy and ukulele. Just looking at that little list makes me feel proud of myself and that's something I thought I'd never say.

Anyway, enough of me ranting. I just wanted to say that blogging has been such an amazing and inspiring part of my life, I can't imagine it any other way now. I would honestly encourage anyone and everyone to start a blog if they were thinking about it, because it's such a good creative outlet and you learn so much. I am so grateful for the road it has led me down.

I just want to say a massive thank you to my followers (currently 200 of you via Bloglovin'), for every follow, comment, like, tweet and Instagram interaction you may have done for me. It honestly means the world to me that someone is taking the time to read what I have to say, which is why I always reply to my comments. I don't have the biggest statistics compared to some bloggers, but I try not to compare myself to others because I value my loyal followers that interact with me on a regular basis.

I can't wait to see what the next year brings me, as hopefully I'll have more time for blogging because I'll be on my placement year of university and I already have big plans for my blog. Who knows, I might even have a few more followers and be able to host a little giveaway for you guys this time next year. We'll just have to wait and see!

Lots of love and thank you,

Sara

New Look Haul

Black Leather Lace Up Shoe Boots
£27.99

I needed a pair on 'sensible' shoes for all the interviews and presentations that I've been doing for uni, which isn't easy for someone with size 2 feet. Whenever I came across these little brogue like shoes from New Look, I knew that they were my best bet. They kind of remind me of a pair of school shoes I had, but they look smart, but not over-done whenever I need them.

Petite Monochrome Tile Print Trousers
£14.99

I don't normally buy trousers because most of them don't sit right around my hips. However, whenever I saw these ones in store, I tried them on and I had to bring them with me. They look so smart with the little shoes boots and a white shirt as well!

Petite White Pint Size T-Shirt
£7.99

After having a massive wardrobe clear-out before going shopping, I was missing some casual t-shirts from my life. I thought this pint-size t-shirt was so cute, I love the little milk bottle illustration and it is incredibly soft. A casual nod towards my sense of humour as well!

Navy Contrast 3/4 Sleeve Raglan Top
£9.99

I love the casual look of these 3/4 length sleeve tops, they are perfect whenever I'm just having a day at home. I was actually after the grey one, but they didn't have any in my size so I settled for the navy one, which is just as nice and simple.

Red Silky Basic Top (similar here)
£6.99

I found this top in the sale for only £6.99 and I couldn't believe the quality of it, it's so soft and silky! Although I do think it's more of an Autumn/Winter colour, I can see myself wearing it all year around, especially since it rains most of the time in Northern Ireland anyway! I couldn't find this exact one on the New Look website, but I think the ones in the link above are a pretty similar style.

Topshop Haul

As a little celebration and a treat to myself for finishing second year of university, I thought I'd go out and buy some bits and pieces from the shops that I've had my eye on for ages, so expect to see a few more hauls throughout the week! However, the first shop I did some damage in was Topshop.

Scatter Embellished Necklace Jumper
£12

I already have the mint version of this jumper and I wear it all the time, it's so lightweight, but still so warm and cosy. You may wonder why I'm buying a jumper in the middle of May, but it's constantly like Winter in Northern Ireland.

Petite Daisy Scallop Overlay Dress
£18

This dress was the main reason why I went to Topshop first. I'd been dreaming and outfit planning this dress before I had even bought it. I also have the daisy print jeans (here) from Topshop, I just have a daisy obsession. The petite version is no longer available on the Topshop website, but you still might be able to get it in store.

Petite Blue Marl Lace T-Shirt Dress
£8

I found this little t-shirt dress when I was browsing through the sale items in store and at only £8, it seemed like a sin not to buy it.  However, it's no longer available on the Topshop website.

Moon And Stars Necklace
£7.50

Topshop jewellery always fascinates me and before I know it, I'm standing with a basket full of it. However, I managed to refrain myself and only pick up two pieces, the first being this stunning double necklace with a gold crescent moon and two dainty silver stars. However, I couldn't find it on the Topshop website.

Elephant Necklace
£5

The second piece of jewellery I picked up was this super dainty elephant necklace. I thought this would be just a nice little bit of detail to add to a plain outfit to jazz it up a bit, or perfect for layering with other little necklaces.

What do you think of my Topshop haul? Would you buy anything from it? Let me know in the comments!

Nails Of The Week | Manicure Monday

Since I've been doing a few interviews for placements recently, I've been opting for more neutral, sensible nail colours. One of these options being from the new Barry M Sunset Daylight Curing collection.

The idea behind these nail polishes is to deliver the look of gel nails, but without a UV lamp as your nails are cured naturally by the sunlight. There are 8 nail colours to choose from, however you have to use the topcoat to make it work.

I don't know how much of a gimmick they are or not, but the nail polish and the topcoat is really nice and they have left my nails looking rather shiny and chip resistant. I can definitely see how these would appeal to a lot of people and can imagine there will be new shades released somewhere down the line.

On my nails:

Barry M Sunset Daylight Curing Nail Paint - Do It Like A Nude

Barry M Sunset Daylight Curing Topcoat

Little Update

The past month has been an absolutely hectic one. I've officially finished my second year of university and can now focus more on trying to find a placement for next year. However, this also means that I can focus more on the things I've been wanting to do for ages, but haven't had the time to. For example, blogging, testing out my new camera, ukulele and some freelance work and projects I've been needing to complete. Hopefully now that I have a bit more time, I can get back into my normal blogging routine again and keep my posts more consistent.

I'm also thinking about writing some more design type posts and maybe posting some things that other bloggers could use, such as icons, illustrations, fonts, templates, etc., so let me know what you think!

For the mean time, here's a selection of pictures from things I've been up to in the past few weeks.

  • Being that person on the train, talking to themselves, trying to learn presentation slides.
  • I looove melon.
  • Serious presentation face.
  • Innocent smoothies are incredible.
  • Having a chill, ukulele playing day.
  • There was a ladybird on my leg on the train, it's supposed be good luck!
  • Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Polish - In A Heart Beat.
  • End of university celebrations.
  • Blue slushie in the sunshine.

I hope everyone has had a great couple of weeks and hasn't been too stressed with university or collage work, exams, work or just life in general!
