Nails Of The Week | Manicure Monday

Feeling very autumnal this week with this gorgeous glitter packed burgundy/wine shade of nail polish from the Maybelline Color Show range. I'm loving burgundy at the minute, if it's not edging it's way into my wardrobe, it's making it's way forward in my make-up and nail polish collection.

Everyday Uni Make-Up

As you may or may not know, I started my second year of uni on Monday. I decided to travel this year as it's not too far away from home, but that does mean that I have to get up at 5:30 most days to get the train. So, this calls for minimal, natural make-up which will get me through the day, saying as I won't be home until 8 o'clock most nights as well.

To make sure that my make-up lasts all day, I use the Benefit Porefessional primer as it's the best for making my make-up stay locked in place.
I use two concealers, I use the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer for any blemishes or redness I have, then the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer under my eyes to combat dark circles and helps me look more awake.
A foundation that I'm trying out at the minute is a new release from Rimmel, the Lasting Finish Nude foundation and so far I'm absolutely loving it, it gives a nice medium coverage which is perfect for everyday use.
theBalm Frat Boy blush is one that I use all year round, I love using is it as it gives me a nice flush of colour without being too harsh or noticeable against my pale skin.
The Bourjois Java Rice Powder is one that I usually use in Spring/Summer, but I've been loving using it at the minute to help me look more awake and brings a nice 'lit from within' look to compliment the foundation.

Eyes & Eyebrows

I usually just grab whatever black eyeliner is closest to me in the mornings, but I've been loving the Lord & Berry Couture Kohl Kajal eyeliner as it's so creamy and smooth, which means I don't have to drag it around the upper and lower lashline, meaning my eyes won't get red and irritated.
Whenever I need a natural eye option, I always turn to my little Naked Basics palette, usually to the shade Naked 2 all over the lid and Venus in the inner corners if I have the time.
My mascara of choice recently has been the Rimmel Wonder'Full mascara as it's great for everyday use and it comes off no problem at the end of the day. It also doesn't make my lashes too long, so they don't push up against my glasses whenever I need to use them.
For my eyebrows, I'm pretty low maintenance, I like to fill in any sparse parts of my eyebrows using the waxy pencil side of the Soap & Glory Brow Archery, then use the brush part to add a little more definition.
I also use my ring finger to apply a little bit of the Mary Lou highlighter into the inner corner of my eyes as it helps me to look more awake than I am and brings more light to my face.

As well as my eyes, I like to keep my lips fairly natural. It's not very often that you'll see me walking around campus with a bright red or berry lip, especially if I'm in all day, I just don't want the hassle of worrying about it being on my teeth or having to top it up.
So, I like to use the Burt's Bees Coconut & Pear lip balm to keep my lips hydrated, especially since the colder weather is creeping in.
Then, I usually use a nice, everyday pink lipstick or lipgloss, at the minute I've been loving using the Tanya Burr lipgloss in Afternoon Tea as it takes no time at all the apply and you can't go wrong with those formulas.

Nails Of The Week | Manicure Monday

A very quick, minimal late night NOTW this week as this was my first day back to uni after a long 5 months off. I'm not excited as I thought I'd be though as my timetable is absolutely awful. It's all early mornings and late nights, so hopefully I'll still have time to blog and if not, I'll make time.
I love this shade though, it's such a lovely Autumn appropriate shade and I love the formula of the Maybelline Super Stay 7 Days nail polishes! It's just a pity I couldn't capture any photos while it was still daylight, but I suppose that's all part of Autumn seeping in!

On my nails:

Dress Hunting - Aviva Dress*

1 2 3
4 5

Something very exciting is happening next Summer that has been in my calendar for a while now, my cousin is getting married and I'm going to be one of her bridesmaids! The wedding is going to be some time in August, so hopefully it's going to be a lovely Summer wedding. As weddings can be extremely stressful to plan, I volunteered to help my cousin pick the bridesmaids dresses and maybe even do the make-up on the day of the wedding!

My cousin already has her wedding dress picked out, it's very traditional, white, strapless, satin, it's absolutely beautiful! The maid of honour and flower girl also have their dresses picked out, the maid of honour's dress is floor-length with straps and a crossover back which is like a dusky pink colour. The flower girl's dress is absolutely adorable, it's such a little princess' dress which is chiffon, light pastel pink with little dusky pink flowers embellished on it.

So, the biggest task left was finding dresses that would both fit myself and my 15 year old cousin, who is much taller than me. So, that's when I kicked into good bridesmaid mode, started my research and stumbled across Aviva Dress. They have so many amazing dresses, from wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, prom dress and other special occasion dresses that come in a variety of shapes, sizes, materials and colours.

My cousin actually wanted our bridesmaids dresses to be a light pastel pink and floor-length to match in with both the maid of honour's dress and the flower girls dress, that was the only guidance she gave me, the rest was entirely up to me. So, I've picked out five absolutely gorgeous light, pastel pink floor-length dresses to present to my cousin and hopefully she likes them.

One of the best thing about Aviva Dress is that you can pick your normal size, but you can also get it custom made. So for me, I can definitely benefit from getting the length taken up a few inches and taken in at the bust. You can also pick from a massive range of colours, so if you like the style of the dress shown but you're not sure of the colour, you can change it no problem!

You can also choose when you want your dress to be delivered, which is so convenient because you can arrange to be at home or for someone to be there whenever it arrives.

I don't even want to total up the time I've spent on this website, not just searching for bridesmaids dresses, but also looking at the formal and prom dresses, wishing I would have found it whenever I had my formal two years ago, how time flies. I know there are a lot of formals/proms coming up shortly, so maybe if you or someone you know is looking for a really stunning dress, you could check them out as the dresses are such a reasonable price as well. Or for all you eager beavers out there, the festive season will soon be upon us, which means getting dressed up and looking glamorous for all those Christmas parties!

So, what do you think of my top 5 dresses? Which one do you think would be best for bridesmaids dresses? Let me know in the comments!

Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment

Saying as I've gone through more tubs of this than I care to count, I think it was about time that I did a review of it.
First up, I've been using this since I was in my mid-teens because I thought it would be a good idea to cut my hair to just above my shoulders, needless to say it was not a good idea.
The hair mask contains a protein-based complex that fertilises the hair follicles to help hair grow faster and reach it's maximum potential length. Now I'm not too sure of all the technicalities, but all I know is that every time I use this (usually once a week during a Sunday pamper session), my hair is left feeling so soft, nourished and silky smooth.
Apart from leaving my hair looking super healthy, it also doesn't weigh my hair down or leave it looking greasy, which I can't stand with some hair masks.
The formula itself is a thick, light pink, creamy texture which glides through the hair with no problems. Although it does have quite a strange smell, not a bad smell, just unusual.
I use this by using my shampoo as normal, apply the hair mask for 5 minutes, then rinse it out and apply my conditioner.
So, the big question, does it actually make your hair grow? Well, while it won't turn you into Rapunzel overnight, I think it certainly does strengthen, nourish and protect the hair, which in turn will make it grow longer.
I think it says a lot that I keep going back to it even though I've been using it for such a long time. It's definitely one of my all-time favourite hair products and one that I purchase over and over again.

Nails Of The Week | Manicure Monday

Keeping things really simple this week with a classic red. I really do love the HyperGel polishes from Models Own, they are so glossy and so long-wearing! Soon enough I'll have the entire collection. I bet you thought that was a joke. It wasn't. Oh dear. *cough*

bareMinerals Best In Sass Lip Trio

I know a lot of people have tonnes of lip products, but personally I've never been much of a lip product lover other than a lip balm fit for everyday use and maybe a red lipstick on a special occasion. I think it's just because I'm so pale that a lot of shades don't suit me, so I just don't bother. I don't even own a MAC lipstick for goodness sake, dun dunn dunnn. However, recently I've been trying to get more into lip products and that's when these three little beauties come in.

I saw this set on Feel Unique and thought it looked really pretty and not too scary as it is nice, neutral 'my lips but better' kind of shades, so I thought I'd purchase it to see how I get on and oh boy am I glad that I did. The kit contains one mini bareMinerals Marvellous Moxie lipstick in the shade 'Make Your Move' and a double-ended lipgloss in the shades 'Spark Plug' and 'Rule Breaker'.

'Make Your Move' is a really pretty soft neutral pink and the majority of the time I will be wearing this. It just sits so comfortably on the lips and gives a lovely satin finish. It's also so easy to apply due to it's buttery texture, very moisturising and I never have to worry about it budging or being on my teeth. I'm definitely going to buy the full size whenever I run out of this mini one.

'Spark Plug' is described as a dusky pink pearl and 'Rule Breaker' is described as a sparkling nude. I love wearing them over the top of 'Make Your Move'. I use 'Spark Plug' if I want a more pink lip look and 'Rule Breaker' if I want a more neutral lip look. I'm quite picky about lip glosses, I will not use them if they are anyway sticky or gloopy, but again I found these so easy to apply, they weren't at all sticky and applied like a dream thanks to the tilted doe-foot wand.

So, this helpful little trio has definitely got me in the mood to be brave and try some more lip products, so if you have any suggestions please let me know! I would love to try some MAC lipsticks that are suitable for my porcelain skin!

Skincare Currently On Trial

Recently I've been having a bit of a skincare shake-up as we've been edging our way into Autumn. Not only do I love changing my clothes and make-up as the weather starts to change, but my skincare routine changes as well because it changes and reacts differently to the weather.

Eau Thermale Avenè Cleanance K Cream-Gel

I really love French skincare, particularly from brands such as La Roche-Posay, Nuxe and many others as it always gives me good results. However, I've never tried anything from Eau Thermale Avenè and my Mum said that she has tried a few of their products and they were really good, so I thought I'd tried this out! It claims to reduce spots, blackheads and blemishes whilst having a peeling effect on the surface of the skin because of the AHAs and BHAs.
The first impression I had of this is that it does not smell pleasant, it kind of smells like vinegar. Secondly, it stings like hell, which means I jump about like a maniac whenever I apply this, but it does claim that "Light tingling may be experienced while using Cleanance K. This is temporary and means the product is working.", so we'll just have to wait and see.

Elemis FreshSkin Skin Clear Overnight Serum

Elemis is brand I actually haven't tried much from because a lot of their skincare is aimed towards anti-aging and I'm not ready for that quite yet. However, they do have a range called 'FreshSkin' which is aimed towards late teenagers and young adults. The range contains a lot of different products, from cleansers to moisturisers and even an eye cream that I'm interested in, so it's definitely one to check out.
The serum seemed the most appealing to me though and upon first use I was instantly impressed. Not only does it smell amazing, quite like grapefruit, but it causes no discomfort or stinging. Also, it glides onto the skin like silk, so you don't have to tug your skin causing any irritation and my skin looked brighter and fresh the morning after. Definitely one I'm excited to keep using and reviewing later on.

A lot of people, including myself will be unfamiliar with this brand, yet may have walked past it every time they've went to Tesco. This is because this is Tesco's own brand skincare range, which looks quite like the Soap & Glory packaging, that's what caught my eye in the first place. They have loads of different products from skincare to body care and it's so much fun browsing through everything to brighten up a dull grocery shop.
Anyway, I liked the sound of this moisturiser, as it claims to look as if 'a moon beam has kissed your face'. A pretty weird claim if you ask me, but we'll roll with it. I did find that I had to shake it before use as it was quite runny and thin for a moisturiser, although I did find that it sinks it very quickly and doesn't look greasy. However, it does make an absolutely fantastic moisturiser/primer duo as it leaves a lovely subtle shimmer, so I only use it as my morning moisturiser.

Nails Of The Week | Manicure Monday

After my Models Own order came last week, I couldn't wait to try out some of my new nail polishes. I love this blue shade, I can only describe it as a teal colour, but a little bit brighter.
I have nothing quite like it in my collection and I can see myself getting a lot of use out of this nail polish, which is rare for me! I've also been obsessing over glitter top coats that would look nice with this, so if you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate them!
